Straits Settlement was a group of British territories from 1826-1946. It has many stories to tell. Our story is of the rubber plantation. The first practical rubber tire was made in 1888 & soon rubber demand grew exponentially. To meet these demands, Mr. Ridley, Botanic Garden's director, discovered an economical way to extract latex from rubber trees. His efforts rendered rubber plantation in Straits Settlement so successful that soon 2.1 million acres of land were dedicated to Rubber alone.

Even today, South-East Asia produces 2/3 of Global Natural Rubber. This room fragrance will remind you of the soft dance of the rain and a peaceful walk through these plantations.
